More than 18 years ago, due to the need of treating the obesity epidemic and offering a convincing treatment for weight loss, Dr. Daniel Campos Torres, introduced the practice of Bariatric Surgery in the region. Dr. Campos, with a notable career in obesity surgery, together with Hospital Angeles Torreón, founded in 2008 the Obesity Care Group (Centro de Obesidad y Cirugía Laparoscópica), which was the first center in offering a specialized treatment for severe obesity in La Laguna.
